Kosiski Competes In I-80 Nationals

Andrew Kosiski and Team 53 spent three days this past weekend at the I-80 Speedway as the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series made their second trip of the year to the 4/10 of a mile speed plant, this time for the recently scheduled I-80 Nationals. Andrew went into the weekend with a lot of unknowns as he debuted his Rocket XR1 Chassis that he had recently acquired and the results showed as he ended the weekend with three DNQ’s.

Thursday night Andrew qualified 16th in his group, followed by a 9th place heat race finish and 7th place run in the B feature.

Friday he was 17th in qualifying with a 8th place finish in the heat and once again a 7th place finish in the B feature. (Todd Boyd photo)

Saturday the night started off with B features to get into the 80 lap main event where AK took another 7th place finish; then after starting fourth in the 20 lap non qualifiers race he dropped to a 8th place finish ending his weekend. “I was pretty happy with how Thursday and Friday went” said Kosiski, “we started off not that far off and got a little bit better on Friday. Saturday’s adjustments were a step backwards and I was hoping to put together a better performance there, but to just go out there and compete right away with the best drivers and teams in our sport is a really hard thing to do on a big fast track like I-80.”
