Kosiski Claims Top 5 at Norfolk

Andrew Kosiski and Team 53 rolled into the Off Road Speedway Saturday night coming off of two consecutive runner up finishes with the Malvern Bank Super Late Model Racing (SLMR) Series. After a hard fought 30 lap main event, Andrew brought home a strong fifth place finish. (CK Imaging photo)

Qualifying time trials seen the All Makes Collision Center, Certified Transmission, Nebraska Bullnose, 4Seams Academy No. 53 set fast time in Group B with a time of 13.898 seconds. That lap was second fastest overall and AK was one of two cars in the thirteen second bracket. Heat race action had Andrew starting 6th in the third heat where he gained three spots to finish 3rd. His combined qualifying points would line him up second row outside for the 30 lap main event.

At the drop of the green the outside lane was the place to be, Andrew would get in line in fourth and hold his line through the opening laps. As the race went on the bottom side began to come in giving the competitors a second option around the speedway. A restart with six laps remaining gave Andrew the opportunity to get around third place runner Kyle Berck, but eyeing runner up Bill Leighton Jr for the second position allowed Berck to get back around with four laps to go. Putting the pressure back on the No. 14 allowed fifth place Ben Sukup to sneak by on the very bottom of the speedway. Falling to fifth Andrew would take the checkers there just ahead of Tad Pospisil to conclude the main event.
