Kosiski Charges to 8th Place Finish at I-80

Andrew Kosiski and Team 53 started the 2021 NASCAR Home Tracks Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series season Friday night at the I-80 Speedway. After making the feature through the last chance qualifier, AK charged through the field to finish 8th. (Todd Boyd photo)

The opening night heat race lineups were set by random draw, Andrew started 8th and was only able to pass one car. Starting third in the last chance qualifier, Kosiski maintained his position to finish 3rd and advance to the 23 lap A main event.

Starting 19th on the grid, Andrew slowly worked his way through the field using the bottom of the speedway. The All Makes Collision Center, Certified Transmission, Nebraska Bullnose, 4Seams Academy No. 53 was finally able to make its way to the high side where it found some more speed. Picking up positions Kosiski found himself in the 11th position when the caution flew on lap 11 when Corey Zeitner went into the spin cycle in turn four. AK was able to use the high line to pick off three more positions to come across the line in the 8th spot at the checkers.
